Goddess WADJET was a patron goddess of protection and one of the personifications of the Eye of Ra. In Ancient Egyptian mythology, the Sun + Moon were often depicted as the eyes of deities, and these eyes were individually depicted as females. Wadjet's symbol was of a cobra who adorned the crown of Ra, God of the Sun, and served as his protective eye, often as as a sun disk.
